Izrael razmatra opciju da potopi tunele u Gazi morskom vodom

Američki zvaničnici, kako navodi list The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), izjavili su da je Izrael uspostavio velik sistem pumpi kako bi potopio tunele koje koristi Islamski pokret otpora (Hamas) ispod Pojasa Gaze, u nastojanju uklanjanja vlastitih boraca.
Prema ranijem izvještaju ovog lista, Izrael razmatra mogućnost upotrebe “spužvastih bombi” za zatvaranje tunela.
Sredinom novembra vojska je postavila najmanje pet pumpi smještenih kilometar sjeverno od izbjegličkog kampa Al-Shati, koje mogu prenositi hiljade kubnih metara vode svaki sat i potopiti tunele u roku od nekoliko sedmica, kako je navedeno u izvještaju WSJ-a.
Nije jasno da li će Izrael razmotriti upotrebu pumpi prije oslobađanja svih zarobljenika koje drži Hamas, koji je ranije saopćio da ih je sklonio na “sigurna mjesta i tunele“, izvještava list.
‘Razoružavanje Hamasa na različite načine’
Zvaničnik izraelske vojske, kako prenosi WSJ, nije želio komentirati plan potapanja tunela, ali je citirao njegovu izjavu u kojoj ističe da “izraelska vojska radi na razoružavanju Hamasa na različite načine, koristeći razna vojna i tehnološka sredstva“.

Na pitanje o izvještaju lista, američki zvaničnik je za Reuters izjavio da je razumno da Izrael učini tunele neupotrebljivim i da istražuje sve moguće načine za postizanje tog cilja.
Agencija je navela da nije u mogućnosti potvrditi sve pojedinosti izvještaja te da izraelsko Ministarstvo odbrane nije odmah odgovorilo na zahtjev za komentar.
Prema izvještaju britanskog lista The Telegraph, objavljenom 31. oktobra, navodi se da bi Izrael mogao razmotriti korištenje “spužvastih bombi” za zatvaranje tunela otpora.
Francuski list Le Figaro je u izvještaju sredinom novembra izvijestio da Izrael razmatra upotrebu “spužvastih bombi”, naglašavajući da je Izrael razvio ovo oružje prije nekoliko godina.
Ove “bombe“ se sastoje od dvije tečnosti smještene u jednoj vrećici, odvojene metalnom preprekom.
