Njemačka šalje fregatu na Crveno more
Njemačka će se slanjem fregate Hessen priključiti planiranoj misiji Evropske unije za zaštitu pomorskog saobraćaja kroz Crveno more, javljaju njemački mediji.
Fregata Hessen sljedeće sedmice iz luke Wilhelmshaven treba otploviti u smjeru Crvenog mora gdje se očekuje da će preuzeti zadatke u sklopu misije koju bi, kako je planirano, tokom februara trebao odobriti Bundestag, prenosi Hina.
Planirana vojna misija zemalja članica EU-a predviđa zaštitu trgovačkih brodova, koje napadaju jemenski Husi, pobunjenička oružana grupa koju podržava Iran, prisustvom nekoliko ratnih brodova kao i proturaketnih sistema.
Misija će se zvati Aspides (Zaštitnik) i trebala bi štititi brodove u Crvenom moru, ali ne i sudjelovati u napadima na Huse.
Opremljena protivraketnim sistemima
Njemačka fregata Hessen je opremljena protivraketnim sistemima i posebno je koncipirana za zaštitu i pratnju drugih plovila.
Također, fregata Hessen raspolaže radarom koji je u stanju pratiti zračni prostor veličine Sjevernog mora.
Sekretar u ministarstvu odbrane Siemtje Moeller rekla je u Briselu da bi Evropska unija najkasnije 19. februara mogla donijeti odluku o misiji te da bi nakon toga i Bundestag po kratkom postupku trebao odobriti učešće Bundeswehra.
Zbog napada na teretna plovila u Crvenom moru, dijelovi njemačke industrije su prijavili poteškoće u snabdevanju, a fabrika automobila Tesla, pored Berlina, je obustavila proizvodnju na dvije sedmice.
