Ova rasa nije naklonjena strancima, oštrog je karaktera, a dobar je čuvar ovaca. Njegova pojava već je dovoljno upozorenje. Vrlo su izdživi i mogu da se prilagode lako na sve vremenske prilike. Iako postaјu agresivni prema nepoznatim ljudima, nežni su prema svojim vlasnicima.
Nemački ovčar
Jedna od omiljenih rasa u seoskim domaćinstvima, jer se lako dresira, poslušan je i život bi dao za svog vlasnika. Neustrašiv čuvar, koji posebno štiti decu u porodici u kojoj se nalazi. Reč je o disciplinovanoj rasi psa koja dozvoljava ljudima da priđu, ne napada, ali ukoliko vlasnik da naredbu, oni koji mu se nađu na putu, ne prolaze baš najbolje. Reč je o psu punom samopouzdanja koja se pokazala kao odličan čuvar domaćinstva, ali i stada.
Veliki švajcarski planinski pas
Vrlo su zaštitnički nastojeni prema svojim vlasnicima i čuvaju svoju teritoriju. Ova rasa je vrlo snažna, s puno mišića i jakim čeljustima. Veliki švajcarski planinski pas ima vrlo razvijene instikte, posebno kada im se približava osoba koja ne uliva poverenje. Ovi psi obožavaju svoju porodicu i nikada ne dozvoljavaju da im se neko od stanaca približi.
Veliki šnaucer
Reč je o izuzetno snažnoj i samovoljnoj rasi, pomalo zastrašujućoj rasi. Naime, veliki šnauceri treba da su dresirani od malena, u protivnom, ako nemaju “čvrstu ruku”, znaju da preuzmu dominaciju u porodici. Vrlo su verni i lojalni svom glasniku i ne puštaju baš svakog da im se približi, zato ih smatraju izuzetnim psima čuvarima. Posebno su pogodni za kuće sa velikim dvorištem.
Srpski odbrambeni pas (SOP)
Ukoliko želite pravog i odvažnog, neustrašivog psa, koji će vas braniti do smrti, onda je SOP idealan pas za vas. On je vrlo hrabar i bukvalno se ne plaši nikog. Ono što ga čini posebnim jeste što se ne plaši ni pucnja iz pištolja ili puške, već ta radnja povećava njegovu pažnju. Ovo je najbolji čuvar, ljudi, domaćinstava, stoke. Spreman je da uđe u borbu po cenu života da bi zaštitio svog vlasnika. Ipak, vrlo je dobar i mio u normalnim okolnostima. Odličan je čivar i stada i imovine.
Doberman
Reč je o mirnoj, dobroj, vrlo inteligentnoj i lojalnoj rasi. Pirinejski mastif
Pirinejski mastif je odličan pas čuvar i vrlo je privržen svojoj porodici. Vrlo je oprezan kada su u pitanju nepoznate osobe. Njegova pojava sama po sebi plaši ljude, tako da se teško usuđuju da uđu u vaše domaćinstvo ako vide jednog ili dva psa. Vrlo su masivni, a njihova težina je od 45-73 kilograma. Ukoliko ih ne izazivaju, oni su dobri, mirni i staloženi. Najveća osobina im je hrabrost, lojalnost, poslušnost. Jako su privrženi porodici, čak i kada je potrebno samožrtvovanje.
Burbul (Boerboel)
Reč je o rasi koja je specijalno napravljena da zaštiti vlasnika. Ovo su moćni psi, puni snage, fizički su jako sposobni. Burbul je vrlo dominantan pas, sa izraženim čuvarskim sposobnostima, a uz to je i veoma inteligentan. Psi su napravljeni tako da osećaju intuitivno da li im je porodica ugrožena. Oni, kao i ostali psi čuvari, moraju da se socijalizuju od šteneta, kako ne bi bili dominantni u odnosu na porodicu.
Kane korso (Cane corso)
Reč je o jakim i snažnim psima, koji ulivaju strahopoštovanje, a treba im stroga dresura čim se rode, odnosno odvoje od majke kako bi im se dalo do znanja ko je gazda u kući, jer će uz vlasnika “mekog srca” preuzeti “glavnu reč”. Ako ga vaspitate kako treba, biće vam lojalan i veran, a ujedno će znati da odbrani vašu imovinu i porodicu. Ako želite psa koji obožava decu i porodicu u kojoj je, ako želite zaštitnika, onda je to baš ova rasa.
