Nakon što je za 100 dana stabilizovao front i konsolidovao haotično stanje u nizu jedinica generala Surovikina, omiljenog u vojsci i poštovanog od samog neprijatelja, ministar Šojgu je smijenio sa funkcije komandanta SVO. General Surovikin poslednji put se u javnosti pojavio u noći pobune Vagner grupe, danas je formalno oslovbođen svih funkcija u vojsci.
